New Roofs and Re-Roofing in Portsmouth
When a roof is ageing, heavily worn or beyond practical repair, replacing it is usually the cheaper decision over the life of the property. We strip the old covering and install a complete new system built to current standards.
Every re-roof starts with the structure. We inspect the timbers once the old covering is off, so any rot or movement is found and dealt with while the roof is open rather than sealed under a new finish.
A new roof is then built up in the correct order: breathable membrane, new battens set to the right gauge for your tile or slate, correct ventilation at eaves and ridge, and the covering itself fixed to specification. Ventilation is the part most often skipped, and it is the part that decides whether condensation forms in the loft.
We keep the site tidy throughout, sheet and protect what needs protecting, and clear everything away at the end. You get a clear start date and a realistic finish date before we begin.

Common questions
New Roofs and Re-Roofing, answered
How long does a re-roof take?
A typical Portsmouth terraced or semi-detached roof takes several days depending on size, access and weather. You get a realistic date range before we start.
Do you check the timbers underneath?
Yes. The structure is inspected once the old covering is stripped, so anything that needs attention is dealt with while the roof is open.
Can I keep the same look as my neighbours?
Where possible we match the existing tile or slate so the property still sits correctly in the terrace or street.
