Cookie Policy
Last updated: 10 August 2026
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to store. This page explains which cookies this site uses, what each one does, and how you control them.
Our approach
We set no non-essential cookie, script, pixel, embed or tracker until you have agreed to that category. Until you choose, only strictly necessary cookies are used. Our fonts are hosted on this site rather than loaded from a font service, so no third party is contacted before you decide.
Strictly necessary cookies
These are needed for the site to work and for its forms to be secure. They cannot be switched off, and under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations they do not require your consent.
| Cookie | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|
| hrl_consent | Remembers the cookie choice you made, so you are not asked again on every page | 180 days |
| PHPSESSID or equivalent | Set by the web server to keep a page request working correctly | End of session |
| wordpress_* and wp-settings-* | Set only if someone signs in to administer the site. These are not set for ordinary visitors | Session to one year |
Analytics cookies
These would help us understand which pages people find useful so we can improve the site. They are loaded only if you turn on the analytics category. If you have not, no analytics script is requested and no analytics cookie is set.
Marketing cookies
These would be used to measure the response to advertising. They are loaded only if you turn on the marketing category.
Changing your mind
Select Cookie Settings in the footer of any page. The banner reopens and you can change any category, or reject everything. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.
You can also delete cookies through your browser settings. Removing the consent cookie means the banner appears again on your next visit.
Proof of your choice
When you make a choice, we record the choice itself and the date and time it was made, in the cookie stored on your own device. We do not send a copy of that record to any third party.
